Damvig A/S is a 3D printing firm based in Denmark. The company has been purchased by Prototal AB. Prototal is Sweden’s leading supplier of additive manufacturing services.
The acquisition aims to help Prototal strengthen its market positioning in Nothern Europe. Also, the acquisition will assist to promote the acceptance and conception of AM in the area. This is according to reports from the two firms.
Susanne and Jesper Damvig started Damvig company in 1995. The company has been recognized among the most expert 3D printing firms in Denmark. This also includes its neighboring areas. Since its founding, the firm prides itself on keeping up to date with the latest technologies in AM.
This is a factor that has allowed the firm to experience yearly sales raises. It has had sales of 20 percent over the last four years.
Currently, the firm runs a variety of additive manufacturing platforms. They include FDM, Polyjet, SLS, and SLA.
On the part of Prototal B, it is the leading in Sweden on the field of polymer AM.
The firm provides series production and prototyping services. This is by use of additive manufacturing and other conventional procedures. The methods include injection molding. Currently, the firm employs over 175 individuals around five areas. It has a turnover of approximately $49.5 million.
Through the purchase of Damvig, Prototal seeks to streamline and strengthen its position. It is focusing on the Scandinavian additive manufacturing market. This is specifically in the polymer additive manufacturing business. Prototal currently incorporates a very wider offering for AM in Europe’s Northern market.
But, the complete details of the purchase have not been revealed to the public. It is clear though that the Damvig co-founders will carry on with operations. They will still operate the company using the current name, Damvig A/S and at the same location.
