The Tel Aviv based 3D printer develope will present the printer at the Formnext on 22 Nov 2019. It will also showcase other substantial format machines.
As stated by Modix, it’s MAMA printer is intended for the aviation, marine, and automotive sectors. This is where a need for outsize build containers is expected to be high. Furthermore, the company has named the Modix MAMA printer a “personal car factory.” This is because the highest system configuration can print objects of a vehicle’s size. Having the size of a printer in mind, Modix will distribute it to clients as self-assembly equipment.
Apart from its remarkable size, this printer is created to print fast by processing several kgs of filaments. It can do all these in one hour. The MAMA printer can match with high-flow extruders. Among them is the Typhoon High-speed extruder and Canadian Dyze Design’s Pulsar pallet extruder.
All through the history of Modix, the company has worked with large companies and startups. Some of them include General Electric, Amazon Robotics, and Boeing. Also, Modix states that there was a need from these customers for huge machines. They wanted machines that could print huge structures.
“A frequent request is for a very large 3D printer that will allow printing of very large models in one piece,” said Shachar Gafni, Modix CEO.
According to Gafni huge format 3D printers such as the MAMA might reform the production of vehicles. “Automotive and Aviation…are undergoing transformations in both design and production,” he explained. “Thanks to 3D printing, we believe that in the future vehicles will look unique and different one from each other, and we hope that the visually boring era of mass production will soon be over.”
The company is set to showcase its MAMA printer on 22 Nov 2019 at Formnext. Modix will showcase several other machines. Some of them include the very wide Modix 180X and the 1.2-meter-tall Modix 120Z. It will also present the Modix Meter that provides a print volume of 1 x 1 x 0.6 meters.
Also, Modix is expected to make public the pricing for the Modix MAMA in the first quarter of 2020. According to the company, the product will be cost-effective for SMEs and startups. The 180x, Meter, and 120Z each retail for about $10,000.
