An Italy-based 3D printer maker, Lumi Industries, has unveiled a brand-new LCD 3D printer called LumiCube ( Lumi³).
Lumi³ made its première at Formnext 2019. This LCD based printer is a desktop system that is reportedly designed to be accurate, reliable and user-friendly. The printer is suitable for use for applications in miniatures, jewelry, dental, and product design.
The LumiPocket LT is the last machine released by the firm two years ago and the LumiCube has been suspended for some time. Lumi Industries CEO, Davide Marin said: “In the past two years, we have been involved in a quite big project for a multinational company, in which we have been providing our R&D services,”
Since the R&D is project is now complete, the Lumi³ has turned out to be the prime concept cleared from the firm’s pipeline. Marlin admitted the following in a statement; “We are aware that many LCD 3D printers are currently in the market. But we found that our patent-pending solutions and smart improvements actually make users’ life a lot easier.”
Lumi Industries was founded in 2014 and was started to create 3D printer accessible to everybody. As the name suggests, Lumi means light. This is in reference to the firm’s core 3D printing project that revolves just about SLA.
Together with the LumiCube, the firm has launched several other resin-based 3D printers centered on ease-of-use. This includes the foldable DLP system called LumiFold that is designed to be a moveable 3D printing solution.
Also, Lumi Industries has created the LumiPocket LT. This is a cost-effective SLA 3D printer characterized as a special fabricator and serves hobbyists and makers.
Another resin-based 3D printer is in Lumi Industries’ existing pipeline. It is intended to be made by manufacturers who now own an FFF 3D printer in their houses. The 3D printer is called the LumiBee and utilizes light from the mobile phone screen of the user to treat resin into a gadget. The mechanism was nominated as a finalist at the Purmundus Design Challenge 2019.
Lumi³ from Lumi Industries is intended for more professional use. Among its principal features is the innovative post-curing procedure called Hinged Mask for UV Transforming (HUT) technology. The HUT assists users to prevent the expenses of buying post-curving equipment separately. Instead, it maximizes the 3d printer’s inside LEDs to post-cure 3D printed objects.
Also, the HUT machine is installed on hinged support with detectors in it. It may be mounted over the UV LED array of LumiCube. As Marin states, he conceived the thought through making inquiries. “Since we are using UV LEDs to 3D print, why not to use the same LEDs for post curing? Thus, the patent-pending HUT system was designed.” He said.
The LumiCube 3D printer has the innovative pending EFV mechanism (Easy FEP VAT) that is disposable FEP thermoformed resin vat. It is both easy to clean and load. Its easy of use is associated with the disposability of the VAT. Users may just replace the FEP film if it becomes ruined or foggy.
