Eggshell molding is a conciliatory method where a light mold is printed and then the material is injected into the mold. This is with the resulting mold then split away. It is a method many resin-based 3D printers provide. Its benefits in the capacity to over pure kinds of materials such as silicone and rubber have several usages.
Two years ago a firm that triggered something of a splash in eggshell molding was Collider Tech. The Tennessee firm was established on the concept of an ex-Shapeways worker. It finished runner at the distinguished TechCrunch event Startup Battle Eld.
But everything is quiet with Collider, their social media has bit been updated in more than one year. While 3D Systems now has clients purchasing Figure 4 standalone especially to operate eggshell molding.
ACS is a good example of such a firm. It is a UK-based manufacturing home for routine hearing protection in-ear monitors and other communication machines. The firm is making use of two Figure 4 Standalone arrangements to make eggshell moulding.
“ACS were already doing eggshell moulding,” says Colin Blain, Advanced Applications Engineer at 3D Systems. “But we went through a Figure 4 benchmarking process with them and it was a win on every level where we were twice the speed, we could achieve much thinner wall thickness and our resolution was better. Plus the cost of ownership for both hardware and materials was lower.”
Because of the improved workflow ACS has discovered a 4X rise in size and 2x raise in efficiency. This is while lessening material consumption by 50 percent and labor expenses by 80% on one piece.
Speaking during a press release, Andy Shiach, Managing Director, ACS Custom said the following: “The Figure 4 Standalone, and the overall collaboration with 3D Systems, has totally exceeded our expectations.”
