The Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) has declared Dr. Hans J. Langer, as the winner of its treasured Innovators Award. Dr. Langer is the founder and the past CEO of EOS GmbH and now the CEO and chairman of EOS GROUP. AMUG gives the award on those that have fostered innovative concepts. These concepts have as a result improved the 3D printing sector.
The Innovators Award will be bestowed at the 2020 AMUG Conference. This comes after Dr. Langer’s onstage presence in the conference’s Innovators Showcase. Past recipients include Scott Crump, technology creators Chuck Hull, and Carl Deckard; inventors of Stereolithography.
Others also included Fused Deposition Modeling, and Selective Laser Sintering, sequentially; Fried Vancraen, founder of Materialise, and Gideon Levy of Technology Turn Around.
In a statement, Carl Dekker, AMUG president, said the following: “Hans’ journey in additive manufacturing is an interesting tale that begins with him capitalizing on an opportunity created by the possibilities that others’ had rejected.
He built on that to bring the world new solutions in stereolithography, polymer laser sintering, and Direct Metal Laser Sintering and to develop an ecosystem of companies supplying end-to-end solutions to industry. With his background and a lengthy list of achievements, he is an excellent addition to the exemplary list of recipients of the Innovators Award.”
Dr. Langer is the CEO and chairman of the EOS GROUP. This is a family-owned enterprise that includes EOS GmbH, Additive Manufacturing Customized Machines (AMCM), and Additive Manufacturing Metals (AM Metals). It also includes Metal for Printing (M4P, Advanced Laser Materials (ALM), and Kunststoff Vertrieb Dr. Schiffers (KVS). Dr. Langer supervisesthe diplomatic arrangement of the EOS GROUP of businesses.
Dr. Langer started EOS GmbH in 1989 with the idea to create three-dimensional objects straight from CAD data. This is while utilizing laser technology.
Dr. Langer expanded the firm into a self-governing and global maker of high-end solutions in the area of 3D printing. This is through a pioneering vision and a comprehensive knowledge of market needs.
Before founding EOS, Dr. Langer was participating in a study at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. He was also the managing director at General Scanning. He undertook physics at the Technical University of Munich and granted a PHD in Laser Technology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich in 1980.
Dr. Langer was among the initial five inductees into the TCT Hall of Fame. That was back in 2017 and it was for his participation in the growth of 3d printing technology.
Dr. Langer is expected to take the stage for a casual, relaxed interview in the AMUG Conference. This will take place on March 25, 2020. During the Innovators Showcase, he is will answer questions from the conference attendees and the host. The intention is to get to know the person behind the innovations and also get guidance from his expertise.
The Innovators Showcase is unprecedented in a way that it is created to be an informal discussion between two friends. But it is observed by more than 2,000 AMUG Conference attendees.
