Additive manufacturing firm Amaero International has unveiled its latest Adelaide production location at Edinburgh North. Amaero International is located in Melbourne and is regarded as an international leader in metal 3D printing for the aerospace and defense industries. Also, it has a production office in California.

The South Australian office is next to the Edinburgh RAAF station in North Adelaide and is because of a collaboration with the University of Adelaide.
The office includes 3 state-of-the-art Renishaw AM 400 additive manufacturing devices and ancillary tools. It was initially founded by the University of Adelaide and Amaero joined as a leading sector associate.
Amaero makes a huge format, complex aerospace, and defense pieces in metal with laser-based 3D printing procedures popularly called additive manufacturing.
The firm will serve with the University to carry on with the operations of the South Australian Additive Manufacturing Applied Research Network. This entails developing tools, human capital, and capacity in an effort to make Adelaide a master in additive manufacturing research, training, education, and production.
The CEO of Amaero, Barrie Finnin stated that South Australia was quickly turning out to be a hub of the defense and aerospace sectors.
“Additive manufacturing is one of the most promising sectors for the Australian economy and it is growing in strategic importance,” he explains. “Amaero is proud to be a leader in this field and we look forward to collaborating with the University of Adelaide to further develop skills in the industry.”
In 2019, October, Amaero and the University of Adelaide struck a Strategic Partnership Agreement centered on creating 3D printing capacity in South Australia.
The Edinburgh North office was first founded by the University of Adelaide using the South Australian Government’s funding.
David Pisoni, the South Australian Minister for Innovation and Skills stated that Amaero’s determination to establish in Adelaide was a lift for the innovation system of the state.
“This facility is a key enabler to help with the adoption of metal 3D printing by local companies that will drive innovation and the translation into new-to-world and new-to-industry products, services and processes,” he added.
Amaero was founded in 2013 with the help of Monash University. In December 2019, it was registered on the Australian Securities Exchange.
Amaero has served with a number of the best international defense and aerospace and defense product makers in R&D and production capacity. Also, it has shown the capability to provide for the military and aviation blueprint 3D printed metal critical process pieces.
Furthermore, the firm has chosen high profile counselors in the last month. Amaero released a statement to the ASX on February 26 that it had picked former Interim Secretary of Defense for the United States of America Patrick Shanahan as Defence Advisor to its Industry Advisory Board.
Before his government job, Shanahan worked as the Senior Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations of The Boeing Company. He was liable for oversight of the firm’s production activities and supplier management duties. This includes the implementation of high-level production technologies and international supply chain approaches.
